Danieli is a small family-owned winery founded in 2013 with the aim of rediscovering and reviving interest in traditional Georgian wines. Located in the mountainous northeast of the Kakheti region, just above the Alazani River, the winery cultivates its vineyards according to organic methods, honoring local winemaking traditions and producing both traditional Georgian wines and European-style wines.
The wine is made from 100% indigenous Kisi grapes. The grapes are harvested by hand in one of the most important microzones of Argokhy in western Kakheti in eastern Georgia. They are fermented with stems, seeds and shells in traditional Qvevri clay pots for about 2 weeks and then macerated underground for 6 months.
The resulting wine has a beautiful orange hue with intense aromas of honey, followed by dried apricots, pears, quinces, apples and hints of vanilla. In the mouth it is slightly creamy, with a pleasant balance between tannins, medium alcohol content and dried fruit and a long-lasting, honey-like aftertaste. It is full of character and yet easy to drink.
Serve the wine at 10-14ºC and enjoy it with veal, chicken, white fish or sushi.
